Munthe's idea for the villa included an opening space appearing at the sea that would have been able to collect the light of the sky inside the villa as he reported in the famous romanze "La storia di S. Michele" translated in 53 languages. Architectonical style of the villa resulted to be bizzarre, being plenty of vaults and terraces ornated by classical estatues as the Tiberio's half-lenght one. Furnishings keep pieces that date back to the XVII century. We do like to remember among these the Medusa's head and the Egiptian Sphinx. The garden keeps rare plants unique among those composing the Mediterranean scrub.
